Torn (Trylle Trilogy, Book 2) - Amanda Hocking

Date Started: 6/18/11
Date Finished: 6/27/11

One-Word Summary: eh....

And so it continues...Look, I already said that I was going to read all three of these books, so no judgment!

We continue our story with Wendy wanting to stay home BUT the Vittra attack. They bring her (along with Rhys and Matt) back to their palace (basically the polar opposite of her palace with her mother) where she meets the king. Guess what?! He is her father!!! OMG can you believe it?! Ok, granted this was not obvious in the first book but as soon as she was taken to meet him it was pretty clear we were heading in that direction. She escapes with the help of Tove (the super powerful Trylle) and makes her way back to the palace to finally learn more about her history. There is an attempt to interject another (!) love interest - Loki, one of the Vittra fighters (who also happens to be a high-ranking guy, blood-line wise). But she pines for Finn! In summary, she learns that as the Trylle use their powers, they prematurely age, BUT she will be different because her blood combined the Trylle skills with the Vittra physical strength. Oh and she gets engaged to Tove; doing so will combined the two most powerful Trylle families and she knows he will always be there by her (odds that he dies in the third book? I'm going with strong). Where will this arranged marriage take them? And will they finally have peace with the Vittra? And how long does Elora have until she dies (which she thinks will happen soon)? So many questions! Thank God there is a third book!
