Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy Book #3) - Richelle Mead

Date Started - 3/10/14
Date Finished - 3/17/14

Whizzing right through this series, as predicted. Here we go…spoilers ahead.

Back with our friend Rose Hathaway and the usual crew, Dimitri, Lissa, Christian, etc. This time around Rose has field training - and she's assigned to Christian instead of Lissa. She protests (as usual) but ends up accepting it (and becoming better friends with Christian in the process). She is getting violently angry and seeing ghosts, particularly the ghost of Mason - her almost boyfriend who was killed in book #2. You see, because she was shadow kissed and has now become even closer to death by killing Strigoi, she can now see ghosts - and they're trying to warn her. Unfortunately she doesn't understand this until just before a massive Strigoi attack on the campus - oooooh noooo!

Now, the end result is predictable. Christian pairs up with Rose and using his fire magic and her guardian skills they take out a ton of Strigoi. Unfortunately the Strigoi take a bunch of people from the school and go hide out in caves until they can escape under the cover of night. But! Aha! Rose figures this out with help from ghost-Mason. So she and Dimitri and unnamed others launch an attack. And because no YA book is complete without a more convoluted love triangle, Dimitri is attacked and is presumably a Strigoi while Adrian is professing genuine feelings for Rose throughout the book.

Adrian has become much more likable and because of this it was easy to see where this was heading. Clearly in order for Adrian to have a shot with Rose, something will have to happen to Dimitri, especially after he and Rose have sex. So there we have it. He is presumed Strigoi since his body isn't found. Now, whether that will prove to be the case we will have to wait and see.

A solid book three - on to the next!
