Blood Promise (Vampire Academy Book #4) - Richelle Mead

Date Started - 3/18/14
Date Finished - 3/24/14

What can I say, I'm on a roll. I'm probably just going to keep reading these until I finish the series. Only a few more left to go!

Nutshell: I think this was BY FAR the best book in the series yet. Read on for why (and all of the spoilers!)…

Rose finally grows up! We learn more about the Strigoi! We get to go to Russia! There are other characters introduced! Dimitri still wants Rose even though he's undead. Rose lets him drink her blood. Rose fights back! Rose kills Dimitri in an epic battle…but…nope, he's not dead, now he is stalking her, sending her letters once she is back at school and waiting for her to graduate in order to kill her (gotta get around those protection wards). Oh and in all of this we meet the scary/strange Abe (the "serpent") - who also, as it turns out, is Rose's long lost father - and we learn about the Alchemists - the humans who keep the world of vampires secret from the rest of society. There was a lot going on in this book. And I liked it.

And that was just Rose's side of things. Back at the ranch with Lissa, she makes friends with Avery, who is another spirit user who is even stronger than Lissa - because she compels Lissa into some very bad behavior that ends her relationship with Christian and almost kills her. Fortunately Rose drops into her head via another spirit user in Russia just in time. Oh and Adrian arrives to help as well.

So, yeah, I liked this one. Rose is finally, three books in, actually growing up a bit. It's about time. Now onto the next one!
